The problem

You bill $450/hour. You shouldn't spend 3 hours a month on invoicing.

  • Time entries in Toggl. Case notes in Word. Invoices in Excel. Nothing connects.
  • Attorney disputes a $15,000 invoice. No timestamped audit trail to defend it.
  • Different rates for file review, deposition, and trial — tracked by hand.

The solution

One tool built for how expert witnesses actually work

  • Cases, time entries, documents, and invoices in one place. No more juggling tools.
  • Audit-trail invoices with timestamped entries opposing counsel can't dispute.
  • Multi-rate time tracking — file review at $350, deposition at $500. Auto-filled.

Frequently asked questions

Is my case data secure and confidential?

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Your data is stored in a SOC 2-compliant cloud database. We never share or access your case data. You control your data completely.

Can opposing counsel discover my ExpertWitness data under Rule 26?

ExpertWitness stores the same information you'd keep in any billing system — time entries, invoices, and case administration records. These are typically not discoverable under Rule 26(a)(2)(B) as they relate to billing, not opinions. Consult your retaining attorney about specific concerns.

I already use Toggl and Excel. Why switch?

Toggl doesn't understand multi-rate billing by activity type. Excel invoices have no audit trail. ExpertWitness connects your cases, time entries, and invoices so every dollar is defensible. Most experts save 2-3 hours per month on invoicing alone.

What if I only have a few active cases?

ExpertWitness is valuable even with 2-3 cases. The audit-trail invoice feature alone prevents billing disputes that can cost thousands. And at $49/mo — less than 6 minutes of your billable time — it pays for itself with one prevented dispute.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — 14 days with full access to all features. No credit card required to start. If it's not for you, just don't subscribe.

Can I import my existing cases?

Yes. After launch, you'll be able to import cases from a CSV file. We're also building one-click import from common time tracking tools.
