Uploading & Organizing Case Documents

Where do I keep expert reports, deposition transcripts, and correspondence for a case?

Uploading a File

On the Documents page, pick a case, optionally pick a document type, then click Choose File. The upload starts as soon as you select a file — there's no separate submit step. Document type is just a label for filtering later; leave it blank and the file is filed under Other.

Accepted File Types & Size Limit

ExpertPractice accepts PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPG, and PNG files up to 25MB each. There's no limit on how many documents you can attach to a case.

Filtering by Case

The tabs above your document list — All plus one per case — filter the list without leaving the page. This is the same list whether you got here from the sidebar or from a specific case's Upload Document shortcut, which just pre-selects that case in the upload form for you.

Downloading & Deleting

Each row has a download icon and a delete icon. Deleting a document removes the file from storage permanently — it doesn't affect the case's time entries, expenses, or invoices, since documents are just a separate file repository and aren't linked to your billing records.
